The tomahawk is a type of axe from North America. It was created by the Algonquin culture and its name was adapted into English from the word tamahaac from the Powhatan language. Initially made of stone, it is estimated that the first Tomahawks were used about 850 years before the present.

El tomahawk es un tipo de hacha de guerra originaria de América del Norte. Fue creada por la cultura Algonquina y su nombre fue adaptado al inglés a partir de la palabra tamahaac proveniente del idioma powhatan. Inicialmente hechas en piedra, se calcula que las primeras Tomahawk fueron utilizadas hace unos 850 años antes del presente.
